Deck the Blogs: Christmas Home Tour

‘Tis the season and the feeling, y’all! ….well, kind of. I know we haven’t celebrated Thanksgiving yet and I certainly do not want to rush things. However, the life of a blogger is one in which we try to stay ahead of the season in hopes to share inspiration with you early. With that being said, the Christmas tree is NOT yet up in the farmhouse. But, I have started adding some wintery Christmas touches to our home which I am excited to share with you today.  I have teamed up with 11 incredibly talented bloggers to share some Christmas inspiration with you in a home tour we are calling, Deck the Blogs (Cute, huh?). I hope you enjoy all the beautiful home decor and styling ideas we have to share because this truly is the most wonderful time of the year.

Since we haven’t donned our Thanksgiving fat pants yet on the farm, we most certainly have not decorated our Christmas tree. Every year we put two trees up in our home, one is a faux Christmas tree and one is a real tree that we go and pick out as a family. Picking out our real tree is one of my favorite Christmas traditions. Since that doesn’t happen until after Thanksgiving, I have started to decorate the farmhouse with what I call Christmas winter touches which includes lots of white, wood, and Christmas greenery (my favorites!). Without further ado, I would like to welcome you to Hidden Acres Farm… at Christmas time.

As you enter into the farmhouse, you will notice I added a beautiful and very cozy new rug to our foyer. It has been a wonderful addition as the days are getting colder on the farm. To the ever popular wall easel, I added a Christmas sign I and some faux Christmas greens. This bench has become one of my favorite things to style and decorate throughout the seasons. It’s so fun to shop the farmhouse every few weeks once I get tired of a look and switch things up. Recently, I added some cozy knit pillows, a winter pillow and some lanterns to the bench. I love the glow of the lanterns in the evening! To my favorite crocks, I added some faux trees and then put a wintery wreath on the front door. We rarely get snow in coastal North Carolina, but a girl can dream, through home decor.Over the summer we shiplapped an accent wall in the foyer. I adore it! It’s so fun finding things to hang on it because of the way they pop off the white planks. I recently received this gorgeous farmhouse Christmas Tree sign and it is the perfect seasonal welcoming piece when you enter our home. Since it’s a Christmas tree sign, it made perfect sense to style the table beneath it with faux Christmas trees and my favorite Evergreen candle.As we leave the foyer of the farmhouse, we enter into the breakfast nook and kitchen. This is the heart of our home. We spend so much time here throughout the year, but especially during the holidays. In sticking with the rustic evergreen charm I was trying to achieve, I ran my favorite ruffled canvas runner down the breakfast table. In the center, I arranged some wood pieces that I had Mr. A cut for me after we had several trees taken out over the summer to put in a new horse riding arena. Atop the wood pieces I added candles and at the base of the centerpiece I added fresh boxwood clippings from our backyard. I love using as many natural elements as I can in the farmhouse when I’m decorating. This centerpiece was so fresh, easy and best of all, it was free! To add some rustic Christmas charm to the chairs, I tied white canvas ribbon round the chairs and secured pine bows in the center of the bows. I added a simple evergreen wreath to the barn door and tried something new on the wall behind the table. I replaced the 6 herb prints that usually hang on the wall with 6 clipboards. I found some free evergreen and Christmas tree printables online, printed them out, and clipped them to the boards. I then decorated the clips with more boxwood sprigs and some sweet thin white ribbon. This new winter wall installation cost me $15. It was fun, easy, and so affordable!With so much activity in the kitchen during the holidays, I do not like for it to feel cluttered with too many decorations. I kept the kitchen decor quite simple by adding an evergreen garland over the stove and kitchen window. I hung a wreath in the window and also switched out my fall wreath over the stove for an evergreen wreath. I added fresh white flowers with an assortment of greens to the island and…voila! These touches are perfect for me because they add seasonal touches without being in my way while I’m hard at work doing what I love to do during the holidays in the kitchen, baking and cooking.From the kitchen we enter into the sunroom. This is where our tall faux tree will soon reside (after Thanksgiving). For now, I added Christmas touches by hanging wreaths up in all 7 of windows and adding a 4 foot faux flocked tree in place of a house plant. I also arranged some faux Christmas tree saplings on the coffee table. I had a wonderful time decorating our mantel for y’all this year. Our fireplace is a focal point in this main living area. I was starting to tire of my fall mantel arrangement, so I couldn’t wait to change it up for winter. I received several new items from a wonderful online shop that made it so fun  and exciting for me to decorate and refresh our fireplace for winter. First, I hung our sweet burlap stockings. Next, I hung the darling snowflake and white bead garland. I then lined the mantel with fresh pine garland and hung a snow kissed evergreen wreath over the mantel. Once everything was set, I nestled the wood, shiplap trees among the garland and flanked the mantel with wooden pillar candle sticks. The pine garland smells ah-mazing! At the base of our fireplace, I added some white mums in vintage crocks. (Yes! They’re still alive, amazing I know!) With the mums, I added some more sweet little faux trees. I must say, even without our Christmas tree up yet, I love how it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the farmhouse.Last stop, friends. I would like to welcome you into our Winter Wonderland master bedroom. I started decorating our bedroom a few years ago and I must say, since I started, I can’t imagine not doing it. I love simple Christmas touches throughout the farmhouse. I switched out our natural linen flax quilt from fall for our white linen ruffled duvet cover. I added some snow kissed evergreen and pinecone garland to the head of our bed and some sweet white wood trees to our nightstands. At Christmastime, I can’t get enough of the glow of white twinkle lights. The small flocked tree in our room next to our reading nook is the perfect way to enjoy this Christmas glow. I also added some cozy knit and winter pillows to the reading chair and a super soft knit pom pom throw. I love coming here after a long hard day of work on the farm and relaxing in the soft Christmas glow of the room.Well, you did it! You made it through my first Christmas home tour of the season.
