Fall Into Our Homes

Decor, Farm Life, Interior Design

“And all at once, summer collapsed into fall.” -Oscar Wilde

It may still feel like summer outside on the farm, but before we know it, there will be a crispness in the air, leaves on the trees will start turning beautiful shades of orange, gold and red, and pumpkins and mums will be on every porch. You know what that means, y’all… It’s time to start thinking about decorating for fall!

I’m so happy you’ve joined me today, because I have teamed up with eleven incredibly talented bloggers to share some fall inspiration with you. I would like to welcome you to our fall home tour, Fall Into Our Homes. After you visit me here, please take time to go visit the other gorgeous blogs to see the beautiful and inspirational fall decor my wonderful and talented friends have to share with you. Their blogs are linked at the end of my post. You are going to love all the fall goodness!

This year my palette for early fall decorating is neutral. It includes my three favorites: wood, white, and green. I also incorporated white sunflowers, white pumpkins, and I sprinkled in a few green pumpkins here and there too. With decorating early for fall, it was important to me to keep my decor neutral. Neutral is my comfort zone. Don’t worry though, my color loving friends! When my fall decor is in full swing, you will definitely see some orange creep into my decorating. I’m a sucker for beautiful muted orange Cinderella pumpkins… just wait for it! Right now though, I would like to welcome y’all into our fall farmhouse. I’m so happy you’re here!

Fall VignetteMy indoor fall tour begins in our entry where I tried to add an especially cozy and welcoming fall feel. As the weather gets colder, I want my family and our guests to feel the warmth and comfort of our home from the moment they walk in. To me, nothing says, “cozy,” more than beautiful, linen pillows, soft blankets, and wonderful scented candles. In keeping with the natural elements that I love to use when I decorate, I incorporated green plants and used some old stumps from trees that had to be taken down on the farm. Of course, what is fall decor without pumpkins?! For me, they are a necessity, so until the pumpkin patches open up, I am welcoming fall in the farmhouse with faux pumpkins.Fall EntryAs you pass through our foyer,  you enter into our kitchen, or as I like to call it, My Haven. I adore cooking and fall comfort food is my favorite to prepare. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen in fall, because of that, I don’t like the space to feel cluttered, but I do like to decorate. Typically, the only seasonal decor I add in the kitchen is a wreath over the stove and some type of centerpiece on the island. Our island is a focal point in the kitchen, so I always like to have some flowers on it to welcome people as they come in.

This year, my fall kitchen decorating was inspired by big beautiful white sunflowers that I found in a local craft store. Although they were too big for an arrangement, I decided to use them on wreaths. In trying to decorate with as many natural elements as possible, I decided to make the sunflower wreath out of grape vines and eucalyptus for over the stove.  For our island centerpiece, I had to get a little more creative. Due to Hurricane Irma, many of our local flower markets did not have the extensive flower selection that they usually do, because so many of our flowers come from Florida. When I realized I would not be able to get the fresh flowers that I had envisioned for my centerpiece, I had to use faux stems. I used a vintage watering can that I brought in from the front porch as my centerpiece vessel. I was excited when I found the perfect Gerbera Daisies for the centerpiece to compliment my white sunflower wreath. I added the daisies to some eucalyptus and wheat sprigs in the watering can. Around the base of the watering can I placed a couple of real and faux white pumpkins, more eucalyptus, greenery, hydrangeas, and wheat sprigs. It turned out to be the perfect transitional centerpiece from summer into fall. Now, I’m more excited than ever to spend lots of time in the kitchen cooking up some delicious fall fare. Fall Kitchen IIFall Kitchen IOff the kitchen is our living room and sun room. Like most families, we spend a lot of time in these rooms in the fall watching football and movies on tv with a fire in the fireplace. Like the rest of the farmhouse, I wanted to bring a cozy feel to these rooms for fall. I tried to do that by adding linen pillows and soft blankets to a basket, since there never seems to be enough of either when the whole family is hanging out together in here. Honestly, I’m not sure there are enough pillows or blankets in the universe for this family in fall and winter! Around the hearth I added some cream colored mums to vintage crocks for a fresh accent. Lastly, I lined the mantel with pumpkins and filled in the spaces with greens and eucalyptus leaves. I flanked the pumpkins with wood candle pillars for balance and height. In our sunroom I added pumpkins, pumpkins, and more pumpkins! Now, our cozy living room and sun room are ready for lots of fall cuddling.Fall FireplaceFall Sun Room

The last stop on my fall home tour is our master bedroom. I brought the fall inspiration of the white sunflowers that I used in decorating the kitchen into our bedroom too. When I found the grapevine wreaths I also found grapevine hanging baskets. I filled them with bundles of small white sunflowers and hung them on either side of my favorite personalized sign I had made for over our bed. Side note: I had this sign made with the lyrics from the first dance song on our wedding day. It’s one of my favorite signs in the farmhouse! Ok, continuing on…On the footboard of our bed I added another grapevine wreath with a white sunflower. To the bench at the foot of our bed I added some more cream colored mums in vintage crocks and white pumpkins. As you can see, when I decorate, I like to carry my theme throughout the entire farmhouse. Consistency in decorating our home is important to me, I like to feel like it flows from one room to the next. Hopefully, I accomplished that today!Fall Master BedroomFall Master BedroomWell y’all, we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of fall on the farm.
