Welcome to Cali Girl in a Southern World. After spending the majority of my life on the southern California coast, my husband (Mr. A) and I decided it was time for a lifestyle change for our small family. We traded in our coastal home for a farm on the southeastern coast.
In California, I was a business owner for fifteen years struggling to balance my professional career with my family life. I found with each passing day, I had less time for some of my true passions which include my husband, my children, home decor, writing, and cooking. I was also day dreaming daily about things I’ve always wanted to try, but never had time the time to do; such as gardening, caring for animals, decorating, and baking. I decided to take a leap of faith and soon we were headed southeast.
Today, our family is settled on the farm. Well, almost… It seems like everyday there is a new project added to the list, but I love it! I am embracing the new life I have waited a very long time for and the beauty of this new journey is that now I have the time to take on the never ending projects on the farm, to do the things I love to do, and try the things I’ve always wanted to try.
To say my new found life in the south has been an adjustment would be a colossal understatement. I traded in my high heels for rubber boots, my briefcase for an egg basket and my schedule no longer consists of meetings and lunches, but instead consists of feeding animals, cleaning pens, collecting eggs, cooking, baking, and decorating our newly remodeled farmhouse. Along with caring for my husband and my children I am now taking care of a mini horse, two pugs, a micro mini pig and ten chickens. There are hopes of adding a full sized horse and a couple of pigmy goats into the mix too…heaven help me! Careful what you wish for.
With this blog I hope to share with you stories, thoughts and beautiful photos to inspire and connect with you. I also hope to share my home, some of my favorite recipes and my many passions with you. Hopefully we’ll share some laughs along the way too! The South is a beautiful place, rich in history and where some of the friendliest people I’ve ever met call home. It is a place where I am learning to embrace a culture unlike I’ve ever known before, but I have thoroughly enjoyed embracing my new lifestyle and I am excited to share it with you. Welcome to Cali Girl in a Southern World, The Blog. I’m so glad you’re here!
