Fall Outdoor Tour- Front Steps

It’s FINALLY fall y’all! Welcome to Hidden Acres Farm. I am so happy you are here to join me for my fall outdoor tour as part of the Touch of Fall Home Tour.  I have joined nine incredibly talented bloggers to share some fall inspiration with you. If you are joining me from Kristin’s blog, White Arrows Home, welcome! Here on the farm, we have yet for it to feel like fall. It’s been HOT y’all! That has not stopped me from adding fall touches to our outdoor living areas though. If anything, I think the heat has made me want to decorate the outdoors more because we are continuing to use the spaces while enjoying our beautiful weather.

The first week of fall has been incredibly busy and exciting here on the farm! We welcomed a new horse, Charlie, and two new pygmy goats, Rosey and Lenny. I’m excited to show you around the farm, share my fall touches with you, and introduce you to some of our animals. I’m so happy you are here. Thank you for joining me!

Upon arriving to the farm, our pond welcomes you. The pond is one of my favorite spots on the farm because it has a view of the farmhouse, the barn, and the pasture. I love to bring a book out here to read or watch the kids play in the front yard. I also love to add seasonal touches to this space because it is such a focal point upon arriving to our home. I’m not going to lie, I’ve been known to bring a Christmas tree out here on the dock during the holidays! This year for fall I added some mums and some pumpkins on the dock. Throughout my fall decor I am trying to achieve a cozy, welcoming, and comfortable feel. To achieve this, added some pillows and a blanket to the bench on the dock which are always important as the nights cool off during fall. The best part of this outdoor space is you never know who will come to pay you a visit. Today, I got a visit from Apollo, our thoroughbred, and Maggie, our sweet baby pygmy goat. Outdoor Fall Tour at The PondOne of my favorite things about homes in the south is the abundance of front porches. In California front porches were much smaller and few and far between. Now that we are living in the south, I absolutely love driving around and looking at all the beautiful ways people decorate their porches throughout the year. The front porch is the first thing that welcomes you to a home in the south, so I take my front porch decorating very seriously and try to make people feel welcome from the minute they walk up the stairs. One of my favorite southern traditions that I’ve adopted is front porch sittin’. The front porch is one of my favorite spots to have my coffee after doing my morning rounds of feeding the animals. I love watching the goats playing, the chickens roaming and the horses grazing in the pasture first thing in the morning. In the evening, the front porch is also a place where as a family, we visit with friends and neighbors, play games, watch a storm roll through and witness some of the most incredible sunsets we’ve ever seen.Outdoor Fall Tour - Front PorchIf you follow me on Instagram and the blog, you know that my heart belongs to neutral decor. However, outside on the porch, I love to add fall color. This year, I added color by using lots of mums and pumpkins to the porch. Can you really have too many pumpkins and mums on the porch in fall? I think not! I also added sweet pumpkin pillows to our rockers and a blanket to add a welcoming and cozy feel to the porch. Although those cozy touches may not be necessary yet, I know the chilly fall mornings are coming soon and when they do, I will be ready because chilly weather won’t  keep me off the front porch!Fall Outdoor Tour - Front Porch-2As you make your way to the back of our home, off our master bedroom, you will find our heavenly hammock. This hammock is the perfect spot to read a book, take a nap, listen to music, or just relax. After a long day of work and play on the farm this hammock gets a lot of use. I like to come out here to watch our daughter ride the horses. It’s got one of the best views of the arena and it always warms my heart to see her training. To make the hammock more comfortable, I added a linen ruffled duvet to it and some pillows. For fall, I also had to adorn the hammock with pumpkins, no better way than through a pillow. I made a fall  arrangement for the side table using a vintage watering can, white daisies, wheat stems, and eucalyptus. I couldn’t help but add this sweet Pumpkin Patch sign to the side table too, I think it’s the perfect touch. I think even Charlie approves of the new fall touches to this space! Fall Outdoor Tour-Hammock

As we continue around back, we reach our family oasis. Here is where we spend most of our time when we are not with the animals. Our back patio faces the pool and spa and behind it is part of the pasture. This past summer we got new patio furniture and it has provided the perfect spot for me and Mr. A to spend many evenings watching the kids swim as we catch up on one another’s day. This outdoor living space can be seen from the farmhouse. If you joined me last week for my fall indoor tour, Fall Into Our Homes, you know that I try to carry my seasonal decorating throughout the farmhouse. That includes outside, especially in areas that can be seen from the house, so it was important to me to carry my neutral fall decor outside to the back. Therefore, I added some cream colored mums in crocks, white pumpkins, and greens to this space. I also added some pumpkin pillows and a soft blanket for those highly anticipated cool fall nights.

Fall Outdoor Tour - Back PatioOf course, no evening is complete without a visit from Apollo and Charlie!Fall Outdoor Tour - Back PatioAs the sun begins to set on the farm, our outdoor tour also comes to a close. Our last stop is the lounge chairs next to the pool. This is a favorite spot for the kids to sit and relax. They love to lounge with lemonade by the pool after a busy day working on the farm, playing with the animals and swimming in the pool. I added the same neutral fall touches to this space as I did to the seating arrangement. It’s all about unifying spaces for me.

Lounge ChairsOutdoor Fall Tour- Lounge ChairsFor me, this year fall decor is defined by neutral colors, cozy fabrics, and lots and lots of pumpkins. Did I mention pumpkins?! I hope y’all enjoyed seeing some of the outdoor spaces we use on Hidden Acres Farm in the fall. I’m looking forward to sharing more fall inspiration with you this week. Check back tomorrow for a delicious fall recipe and at the end of the week I am excited to share some fall tablescapes with you.
